Thirty five plus years of construction experience has gone into the making
of J & T Mountain Construction
.
Successful projects range from complete custom home construction to remodeling
at every level of the spectrum. The company prides itself on accurate estimating
and billing, quality construction at every phase of the project and a customer
first attitude. J & T stands for Jay and Terry Zipperman and the
company's success is a direct result of their individual work ethics and life
philosophies.
Jay Zipperman spent his core learning years working for The Building Firm, T.H.E. Construction Company and Gilcraft Construction in the metro Atlanta area. During this time Jay went from doing hands on work to supervision and then full job project management of multiple work sites. Jay's versatility enabled him to wear many hats including materials scheduling, client liaison duties, purchasing, project management and a little sales along the way!
In 1996 Jay and his wife Terry decided to make a change from the metro Atlanta area and bought 8 acres of land and a house in eastern Gilmer County. Jay formed J & T Mountain Construction, Inc., and launched his own personal career as a custom homebuilder and home re-modeler. Jay has built a long list of satisfied customers in Gilmer County over the last eleven years.
Along the way Jay and Terry discovered their artistic sides! Jay enjoys woodcarving and the creation of custom furniture. Terry designs custom jewelry and together they attend (work) Georgia Arts & Crafts festivals through the late summer and fall weekends.
Gilmer County represents some of the best of life in rural America because of the commitment of the people to the community. Jay and Terry have not only built a successful construction business but they are very active in numerous community affairs. In addition, Jay has made sure he has the time to be the founder and Director of Mountain Wisdom, Inc., which is a non profit organization that sponsors the Boys' Rites of Passage Wilderness Camp and other programs for youth 12 - 17. They are also Board members of the Keep Gilmer Beautiful Committee and are Event Managers for the Earthday Ellijay which is a County wide community volunteer project.
